Juliana's Journey
This animation tells the story of a girl named Juliana and her journey of learning how to read. Produced for Amplify, a company that creates K-8 curricula and learning assessment tools. Starting with an inspiring script, we developed a look that evoked the simplicity and sense of exploration in children's book illustrations. The story is told through Juliana's actions without narration and only minimal text. The challenge was to communicate the process of assessment and stages of learning to read while still having a clear and entertaining story. Extensive time was spent storyboarding the action to make sure everything made sense and the action flowed well.
